day in Hand is operated by day in Hand.

Who the service is for

day in Hand is a parent-managed homeschool workspace. A parent, guardian, or authorized adult creates the family account, chooses whether to add a child profile, and controls child access. Children should not create a family workspace on their own.

Information we store

• Account identity: the signed-in user’s email and, when available, display name.
• Family profiles: names, optional sign-in emails, grade or level, and optional profile photos.
• Learning content: assignments, habits, notes, journals, uploaded work, parent review feedback, optional assignment scores, learning-moment captures, assignment help conversations, reading records, scrapbook photos, rewards, and progress.
• Service records: privacy consent, subscription status, and basic timestamps needed to operate and secure the account.
• Site analytics: page path, visit time, signed-in or public audience type, and a randomly generated browser identifier that is stored only as a one-way hash on our servers.
• Public inquiries: the name, email address, plan preference, and consent date submitted through the waitlist, plus contact form messages and their selected topic.

Payment card details are collected by Stripe in its hosted checkout. day in Hand stores Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, not full card numbers.

How information is used

We use this information only to provide the private family workspace, keep each family and child profile separated, save learning records, process subscriptions, prevent misuse, and respond to account requests. Waitlist information is used to send requested launch updates, and contact messages are used to reply to the sender. When a child uses “I need help,” the family owner’s email, the child’s first name, the activity title, selected help reason, and optional short note are used to deliver the parent alert. Help replies are shown only inside the family’s private day in Hand dashboards and are not emailed to the child. day in Hand does not sell family information or use child learning content for advertising.

Waitlist choices

Waitlist messages are sent only after a person checks the consent box on the signup form. A recipient may unsubscribe using the instructions in an email or contact day in Hand to request removal from the waitlist.

Site analytics

Site analytics are used to understand overall traffic and product engagement. They do not include IP addresses, search terms, full referral URLs, family learning content, or advertising profiles, and analytics records are removed after 180 days.

Service providers

Information is processed only by providers needed to run the service: OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare for hosting, identity, databases, and file storage; Stripe for checkout, billing, and payment records; and Resend for family-owner help-alert emails when that feature is connected. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments.

Child privacy and parent choices

A parent controls whether a child profile is created and whether a child receives a separate sign-in. The parent can review the family’s stored information, download a structured export, archive or permanently delete a child profile, stop further collection by removing access, or delete the entire family account. A child sees only the profile assigned to their sign-in.

Retention and deletion

Family content is kept while the account is active so the service can preserve learning history. When a parent permanently deletes a child profile, its related live records and files are removed. When the family account is deleted, the subscription is canceled and the family’s live database records and uploaded files are removed. Payment providers may retain transaction records when required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or other legal obligations. A specific backup-expiry period will be published before public launch.

Security

day in Hand requires authenticated access, checks family ownership on the server for every protected request, isolates files by family, verifies billing webhooks, and uses encrypted network connections. No online service can promise absolute security.

Review, export, and delete

A signed-in parent can open Account & privacy from the family dashboard to download family data, manage billing, or permanently delete the family account. These controls are available even when a subscription needs attention.
